Position We are hiring two (2) full-time Accessioners to support Rocky Mountain Laboratories’ overnight accessioning operations based in Las Vegas, NV. This is a true entry-level role designed for individuals interested in beginning or continuing a career in clinical laboratory operations. This position is well-suited for candidates pursuing or recently completing coursework in molecular biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or related life science fields, as well as newly certified phlebotomists, medical assistants (MAs), EMTs, or individuals seeking to transition into a laboratory support setting. Accessioners play a critical role in specimen processing and data accuracy, ensuring samples are properly received, documented, and prepared for shipment to testing laboratories. Structured training is provided, along with exposure to real-world clinical laboratory workflows in a high-volume accessioning environment. Schedule Two (2) full-time openings available Two positions: Monday to Friday, 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM Responsibilities Accurately enter patient and specimen data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) Verify, label, and ensure proper handling and storage of biological specimens Identify and resolve basic specimen discrepancies to prevent processing errors Monitor and report specimen issues such as mislabeling, leaks, or insufficient volume Maintain accurate chain-of-custody documentation and sample tracking Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality assurance guidelines Support laboratory compliance efforts, including HIPAA, safety, and regulatory requirements Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant accessioning work environment Collaborate with laboratory personnel to support efficient workflows and turnaround times Professionally handle incoming phone calls related to specimen processing as needed Prepare and package samples for shipment to laboratory testing facilities Perform additional duties as assigned to support lab operations Minimum Qualifications Strong attention to detail and accuracy Proficiency with computers, including data entry systems Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment Effective time management and multitasking skills Clear written and verbal communication skills Ability to follow procedures and maintain confidentiality (HIPAA compliance) Reliable, punctual, and dependable attendance Must be based near Las Vegas, NV or able to reliably commute Willingness to work the assigned overnight schedule Preferred Qualifications Coursework or a degree in molecular biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or a related life science Previous experience in a clinical laboratory, molecular lab, or healthcare environment Familiarity with specimen handling, accessioning, or chain-of-custody processes Experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) Recent certification or training as a phlebotomist, MA, or EMT Experience handling protected health information (PHI) Prior specimen processing or laboratory experience Job Type Full-Time | W2 Team Member (30+ hours per week) Pay Range $17.25 – $21.00 per hour Pay is based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
