Description:
We have an exciting opportunity for a B and 5 Adult S peech and L anguage T herapist to join our well-established community team at U niversity Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (U HMBT ) .
Prospective candidates will ideally have some experience in working with adults with acquired swallowing and communication disorders with a keen interest in further developing their assessment and management skills. They will also need to be motivated to develop and expand on their dysphagia competencies which will be a key expectation of the role and well supported by the team.
The successful applicant will be working bay wide to cover a dynamic caseload that provides communication and dysphagia management to patients with acquired neurological disorders.
We provide care to our patients in a variety of settings including domiciliary, outpatient clinics and remotely via telehealth as well as carrying out regular communication groups.
We also have close links with a range of specialist MDT’s and services such as ACE North.
This post would be ideal for a newly qualified Band 5 who is ready to take the first step in their career or for a more experienced SLT wanting to further develop their experience with a diverse client group. There is the opportunity for flexible working.
The successful applicant will be joining a friendly and supportive team who are dedicated to providing person centred, high quality patient care.
We offer good learning and development opportunities with regular clinical supervision sessions, peer support and opportunities to attend external courses in line with agreed personal development plans.
As a team we also work closely with the acute therapists to share our knowledge and experiences and to support our patients throughout their health journey.
This post will provide an opportunity to further build on leadership skills and regularly contribute to service development.
We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
