Job Details Job Location: Chesterfield, MO 63005 Salary Range: $38.00 - $50.00 Hourly BASIC FUNCTION: Evaluate, plan and provide therapeutic intervention as it relates to speech and language deficits in individuals with acquired brain injury. SPECIFIC DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: • Administer speech and language evaluations • Develop speech exercise programs • Consult with and refer consumers to additional medical or educational services • Know and implement all aspects of Minds Matter LLC. Philosophical principles for effective service delivery. • Assist individuals to identify their needs and develop appropriate compensation techniques to accommodate the consequences of their brain injury. • Test and evaluate consumers’ physical and mental abilities and analyze medical data to determine best methods and strategies for speech therapies. • Recommend changes in consumers work or living environments that is consistent with their needs. • Evaluate consumers’ progress and prepare reports that detail progress. • Educate consumer and family about various topics, such as communication techniques and other strategies to improve language • Integrate employment, educational and independent living goals into therapy. • Work closely with consumer and case manager to ascertain goals are being met. • Train personal care assistants and transitional living specialist on how to provide for the needs of consumer during and after therapy sessions • Provide services only as designated on each individual consumer’s plan of care. • Design, create or requisition adaptive equipment consistent with consumers’ needs • Work directly with consumers to improve skills in all aspects of their life goals. • Maintain and turn in all documentation at assigned times. • Educate families about the consequences of brain injury and communicate with them about goals and progress as needed. • Attend all trainings and workshops to maintain ability to provide the most up to date, effective and evidence-based practice. • Provide effective documentation that is legible, timely and appropriate to services provided to consumers. • Be aware of departmental goals and objectives and take an active role in helping the department to attain goals. • Schedule supervision meeting with therapy coordinator bi-monthly or as needed to review individual cases and departmental objectives/needs. • Make initial contact within 48 hours of receipt of referral to schedule evaluation, which must be completed within 7 days of receipt of referral. • Assist transitional living specialist in goal setting at initial evaluation/assessment and ongoing as you work with consumers and their goals change. • Provide case managers with quarterly summaries related to goal attainment. • Meet all policy and procedure requirements of Minds Matter LLC on time including completion of timesheets, mileage, quarterly summaries, and other reports. • Establish and maintain a professional rapport with all consumers, co-workers, referral agents and representatives of other community agencies and services, including attendance at planning meetings, etc. • Promote public relations throughout the agency and community for the program. • Demonstrate a willingness to serve on agency and interagency task groups as requested. • Perform other duties as assigned by the Minds Matter Supervisor. • Provide care and maintenance for Minds Matter LLC issued computer or other equipment. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: RELATIONSHIPS: • Internal: Daily with consumers, families and staff. • External: Daily with outside agencies and consumer support systems. Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Successful completion of a Speech Language Pathology Program from an accredited university. Must be currently eligible for the Clinical Fellowship Year Experience working with people with disabilities is appreciated.
