HOURLY RATE: $41.20 TO $52.49, COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE

The primary goal of the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is to ensure our patients are receiving high quality, person-centered care that aligns with our values of Dignity, Service, Excellence and Integrity. Our Speech-Language Pathologist is well-versed in the management of chronic diseases that relate to communication, cognition, and swallowing in older adults. They SLP perform assessments and implement interventions to help patients re-gain function or compensate for deficits using adaptive strategies. The therapeutic objective is to enhance the quality of life for our patients by improving communication with their loved ones and strengthening their swallowing to ensure sustained, safe nutrition and hydration. Speech-Language Pathologists work as part of an interprofessional team to support slow-paced rehabilitation programming and serve as consultants to other disciplines.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Speech and Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or a related field as recognized by the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO)
  • Membership in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO)
  • Membership with Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC) is an asset
  • At least two years of experience in a hospital setting in complex continuing care, geriatrics and rehabilitation
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting clinical swallowing evaluations
  • Ability to provide clinical education as well as patient and family education
  • Demonstrated knowledge of therapeutic, techniques and methods and their application to slow-paced rehabilitation programming for the geriatric population
  • GPA training is an asset
  • COVID Vaccination required to work in our facility
