Position Description:  Surrey Place is currently seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our Interprofessional Services Team and Services for Partners and Organizations Team. This role offers a dynamic and varied practice environment, ideal for a clinician who thrives in a collaborative setting and is eager to build broad-based experience across diverse service areas. The position will report to the Manager of Interprofessional Services, who is also a psychologist, and will focus on two primary areas of responsibility. Interprofessional Services Team: As a member of the interprofessional team, the successful candidate will provide in-person SLP service to children, youth, and young adults ranging from birth to age 25. This work will be one to one as well as small and large group formats. The SLP will be a vital member of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with a psychologist, an occupational therapist, social workers, and behavior analyst. This collaborative environment provides numerous opportunities for interprofessional growth and development. Services for Partners and Organizations (SPO): SPO work offers a unique chance to engage with various community partners to fill service gaps within their organization, particularly through our Northern Ontario initiatives. Traveling to the north as part of our clinical teams allows the SLP to connect with diverse communities and make a significant impact. Role Overview Other Responsibilities: There may also be occasions where the candidate is called upon to deliver one-on-one and small group SLP services as part of the Developmental Services Teams, further enhancing the breadth of experience in diverse service settings. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual aiming to develop comprehensive skills as a generalist in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP). With a broad scope of responsibilities, the SLP will gain experience across multiple facets of the field. The role will be based at the Surrey Place Downtown location with an emphasis on maintaining consistent work sites. Our goal is to limit work to two primary sites, taking individual preference into consideration when assigning locations. The successful candidate may occasionally be required to support services at other Surrey Place locations, including North York (2 Champagne Drive), Etobicoke (2150 Islington Avenue, Suite 102), and Scarborough (10 Milner Business Ct., Suite 102). Travel within the community may be required when working with Partner Organizations. Main Responsibilities * Conduct speech-language assessment and provide blocks of intervention directly to children with ASD * Speech-Language Consultation providing communication strategies to caregivers and the behavioural team * Create and run communication groups with children * Conducts comprehensive speech-language assessments within children with ASD * Work collaboratively with and supervise Communication Disorders Assistants (CDAs) * Promote and initiate new services to enhance service models and maximize service delivery * Provide clinical supervision and guidance to students Qualifications: * Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent that permits registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologist of Ontario * Registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologist of Ontario (CASLPO) * One-year related experience * Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder and intellectual and developmental disabilities * Experience working within an interdisciplinary team an asset * Experience with assessment and implementing intervention programs using low- and high-tech Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) * Experience with AAC Software including Boardmaker, Proloquo2Go, TouchChat, TD Snap * Individual Authorizer, Ontario Assistive Devices Program is considered an asset * Knowledge of a wide range of communication and related disorders for school-aged children * Certification to run Hanen “It Takes Two to Talk” and “More Than Words” programs is an asset * Excellent public speaking, written and verbal communication skills, and organizational skills * The successful candidate must provide an acceptable Vulnerable Sector Screening. * Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.
