Speech Therapist – Home Health Programme Entity: Aga Khan University Hospital Location: Karachi, Pakistan Introduction: The Aga Khan University Hospital in addition to its five Hospitals creates access through its Outreach Services which include Clinical Laboratories, Outpatient Medical Centres, Pharmacy services, Home Health and other services. Outreach Services are designed to provide primary to secondary healthcare services to patients near their homes and are present in several cities across Pakistan. Outpatient Medical Centres offer a range of specialty clinics including Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Cardiopulmonary, Orthopedics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics and Physiotherapy, and cater to children, adults, and elderly patients for general health checks or specific disease consultations. Responsibilities: Assess the patients in their home settings, develop, and deliver the individual Speech Therapy treatment program to improve patient’s auditory comprehension, visual reading perception and comprehensive, oral moral strength, coordination, and symmetry, swallowing components of oral phase, pharyngeal phase indicators, verbal expression, word finding skills, speech intelligibility and articulation, voice characteristics, written expression, gestured communication skills, augmentative and alternative modes of communication. Formulate treatment/ Exercise plans for patients enabling them to achieve treatment goals. Writing patient assessment and progress notes according to hospital policy. Educate and advise patients and their family about how to prevent and / or improve conditions. Participate in appropriate in-house training programs, tutorials, and individual training sessions. Must make sure for his/her own personal development by ensuring that continuous professional development remains a priority. Comply with departmental policies and organizational quality standards. Should respect patient safety, privacy, and confidentiality at all times. Responsible for the safe and competent use of speech therapy equipment and patient used appliances and aids Keep up to date with the relevant new techniques and technologies available for treating patients. Contributing to the development and implementation of speech and language therapy programs and services for outreach and home-based services. Requirements: Bachelors or master’s degree in Speech Audiology and Pathology from an HEC Recognized University/Institute. Minimum Three years working experience with at-least one year working experience in a tertiary care hospital including House-Job. Comprehensive reference checks will be conducted.
Responsibilities
The Speech Therapist will assess patients in their homes, develop and deliver individualized therapy programs to enhance various communication and swallowing functions, and formulate treatment plans to meet patient goals.
