Description Under direction of a Regional Superintendent, Parks and Forestry or other supervisory official in the Department of Environmental Protection, directs the administration, operation, safety, maintenance, and development of a Class 2 park, forest, or recreation area; may be assigned to the Division Central Office; when assigned to the Regional Office, assists the Regional Superintendent in the overall operation, maintenance and protection of the state forests, parks, natural and recreational areas, marinas and historic sites assigned to the region; does other related duties. Specific to the Position The Superintendent 3 will be responsible for the overall operation/administration of the park; supervise/oversee permanent and seasonal staff, park budget, and capital projects; and ensure the protection of natural, cultural and historic resources for the health and safety of the visiting public and staff. This position will maintain a cooperative working relationship between non-law enforcement and law enforcement units of the Department. Preferred Skill Set Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to provide clear direction. Requirements EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Landscape Architecture, Park Planning, Park Management, Park Administration, Parks and Recreation, or Natural Resource Management, Cultural Resource Management, Environmental Studies, Wildlife Management, Biological Sciences or Ecology OR Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Policy, American History, Education, Public Administration including or supplemented by twenty-one (21) semester credit hours in any combination of wildlife management, research methods, natural resources management or parks and recreation management. EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of experience in a natural resources management program, two (2) years of which shall have involved supervisory responsibility for the administration, operation, protection, and maintenance of publicly and/or privately owned lands and facilities managed for recreational and conservational use. NOTE: A Master's degree in any of the above-mentioned educational disciplines may be substituted for one (1) year of nonsupervisory experience. NOTE: All U.S. degrees and transcripts must be from an accredited college or university. All foreign degrees and transcripts must be evaluated for accreditation by a recognized evaluation service by the closing date of this posting. Failure to provide documentation may result in ineligibility. License Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
