Purpose of the role The purpose of this Spiritual and Pastoral Care Volunteer role is to enrich the lives of residents by offering meaningful connection and helping them feel spiritually supported, valued and emotionally connected.  Key responsibilities * Offer one-on-one companionship through conversation and presence to help residents feel emotionally connected and less isolated * Support residents to explore meaning, purpose and connection through faith, relationships, nature, creativity or reflection to enable residents to feel spiritually supported in ways that honour their personal beliefs * Listen respectfully to older people's stories, beliefs and life experiences to foster dignity, respect and cultural or spiritual affirmation * Facilitate or participate in gentle spiritual or reflective activities approved by the staff to promote well-being * Provide companionship without imposing personal beliefs or influencing older person's decisions Personal skills and qualities * Reliability, consistency and commitment * Ability to build genuine connection with older people * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Time commitment * Whether you can offer one hour a week or fortnight, your time helps create moments that matter for older people * Days and time can be mutually agreeable * Regular ongoing commitment Benefits * Be a valuable part of our volunteer team and receive ongoing support throughout your volunteering * Enjoy exclusive Whiddon perks, including discounts and special offers * Receive recognition through our Everyday Heroes Program, milestone awards and many other volunteer appreciation initiatives * Access to confidential support via Employee Assistance Program
