St. Joseph’s General Hospital Elliot Lake (SJGHEL) is a Centre of Excellence and was founded on the rich history and legacy of the Sisters of St. Joseph, who built and administered the Hospital. SJGHEL is a 55-bed acute care hospital, Long Term Care Home with 64 beds and Centre of Addiction and Mental Health. It is the largest corporation in 3.5-hour corridor between Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury, Ontario that provides; Obstetrical Services, Intensive Care, Surgical Services, Specialist Clinics, Addiction Treatment Services, CT Scanning, Dialysis Services, and Inpatient/Outpatient Diabetes Education and Care. We also provide the largest Satellite Oncology Program with over 500 visits annually.
St. Joseph’s General Hospital Elliot Lake (SJGHEL) is seeking a compassionate and mission-driven Spiritual Care Coordinator to join our team. Reporting to Chief Human Resources Officer – Director, Employee and Labour Relations, this role is responsible for coordinating and implementing spiritual care services that align with our mission and values. The ideal candidate will provide guidance and support to patients, residents, families, staff, and volunteers while fostering a culture of whole-person care.
Key responsibilities include integrating our healing mission into the continuum of care, collaborating with local clergy and inter-professional teams, and offering grief counseling and staff support.
Applicants should have certification as a Spiritual Care Practitioner recognized by the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (preferred) and a minimum of two (2) years of chaplaincy experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a hospital or long-term care environment.
