Your Opportunity:
As Spiritual Care (SC) Team Lead, you are responsible for the leadership of the SC team at the University of Alberta Hospital. You will act as a role model for your SC colleagues, ensuring practice is evidence based, & patient/family centred. You will participate in program development/evaluation and support research initiatives on the service. You will ensure your own continuing education and encourage professional growth of your team. You will support orientation of students and staff and ensure student education meets current standards. The position is also responsible for team operational support, including day to day staffing, development of the on-call schedule, chairing team meetings/rounds etc. You will participate in department, discipline and zone committees as directed by Allied Health management. You will ensure that the overall goals/direction of the team reflect those of the AH department. You will provide management with input on staffing/resource decisions & will be available for staff recruitment or performance management as needed. You will provide input on patient care concerns, service delivery and program development & analyze productivity indicators to ensure efficiency of service delivery. The SC Team Lead is also responsible for direct patient care including assessment, intervention and follow-up to patients/families and staff referred to the service. This includes participating in the on-call rotation. You will comply with AHS, AH & SC policies and procedures within the legal and ethical parameters of the Canadian Association of Spiritual Care/Association canadienne de soins spirituels (CASC/ACSS). You will participate in patient related meetings & will complete required documentation while maintaining patient confidentiality. You will support the SC team, and staff in general, regarding ethical or clinically complex cases.

Is proactive in developing and implementing effective strategies to resolve issues and problems, creating safe space, and building bridges.
