Job Details Job Location: Spokane Tribal Credit - Wellpinit, WA 99040 Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt POSITION DETAILS Department: Tribal Credit Salary: DOE/DOQ Location: Wellpinit, WA Travel: Up to 25% Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt Reports To: COO Position Summary The Spokane Tribal Credit Manager oversees the Tribal Credit Department and ensures the responsible management of all loan programs in alignment with Spokane Tribal Enterprises’ core values of Family, Honor, Compassion, Time, Self-Reliance, Hospitality, Unity, Accountability, and Curiosity. This role manages loan operations from application through repayment, supervises staff, monitors portfolio performance, and ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, and ethical standards. The Credit Manager balances strong customer service with sound financial practices to support program sustainability, protect Tribal resources, and strengthen community self-sufficiency. Key Responsibilities All responsibilities are carried out in alignment with STE’s commitment to people-first leadership, cultural respect, accountability, and service to the Spokane Tribal community. Program & Portfolio Management (Accountability, Time, Self-Sufficiency) Oversee daily operations of the Tribal Credit Department with integrity and accountability. Review and manage new, active, and delinquent loans to ensure responsible lending. Monitor loan limits, delinquency trends, and portfolio performance to support long-term sustainability. Develop and implement payment plans that balance fiscal responsibility with compassion. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, including aged delinquency reports. Customer & Credit Services (Family, Compassion, Hospitality) Guide applicants through the loan application process with respect, clarity, and cultural awareness. Ensure complete, accurate, and confidential loan documentation. Help applicants understand their credit needs and loan purpose. Present loan information to the Credit Committee for approval. Deliver professional, welcoming, and responsive customer service that reflects Tribal values. Financial & System Oversight (Honor, Accountability) Supervise loan accounting software data entry and maintenance. Ensure compliance with online banking systems and PCI Compliance. Ensure accurate setup of accounts, notes, payment schedules, and loan advances. Coordinate with the Finance Department to maintain accurate general ledger activity. Maintain secure and confidential financial records in compliance with privacy laws and ethical standards. Leadership & Supervision (Unity, Curiosity) Directly supervise Tribal Credit Department staff. Foster teamwork, learning, and continuous improvement within the department. Provide coaching, guidance, and quality control to ensure consistency and accuracy. Prioritize workloads and manage multiple projects with flexibility and sound judgment. Qualifications Qualifications Required: Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be bondable. Valid driver’s license and ability to meet Tribal insurance requirements. Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or related field with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in finance, credit, or financial supervision; OR High school diploma with college-level finance or business coursework and at least six (6) years of relevant finance or credit experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Commitment to STE’s core values and people-first approach to service. Knowledge of consumer and small business lending practices, also to include Mortgage lending. Understanding of collections, internal controls, budgeting, and financial reporting. Familiarity with federal laws, lending regulations, and privacy requirements (Privacy Act of 1974). Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining professionalism and cultural respect. Supervisory Responsibility Direct supervision of Tribal Credit staff. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Primarily office-based work environment. Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use. Frequent use of hands for computer and phone operation. Occasional standing, walking, stooping, or kneeling. Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. Moderate noise level typical of an office setting.
