Open your home and help adults with intellectual disabilities thrive. Support Services of Virginia is recruiting Sponsored Residential Providers throughout Hampton Roads and the Eastern Shore to provide long-term residential support for one or two adults with intellectual disabilities. Providers create a stable home environment that promotes independence, community involvement, and meaningful daily living. Eligible Households Applications are welcomed from: * Individuals * Couples or partners * Family households, including mother/daughter households Homes with children under 12 years of age are generally not preferred. Qualifications Applicants must: * Be 21 years of age or older * Possess a high school diploma or GED * Be active within their local community * Have at least six months of personal or professional experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, preferably adults * Be comfortable using technology and electronic systems * Demonstrate effective written communication skills Applicants who do not yet meet the experience requirement may be eligible to work as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) with SSVA to gain qualifying experience. Relatives of individuals receiving sponsored services may apply, although additional qualification requirements apply. Provider Responsibilities Sponsored Residential Providers serve as independent subcontractors partnered with Support Services of Virginia and are not considered employees. Providers support the individual's daily living needs while encouraging personal growth, independence, and community participation. SSVA works to match individuals with provider homes based on shared interests, lifestyles, and compatibility. Program Information * Payments are made on a biweekly basis * Certification may take up to three months * Required training is provided at no cost * Homes must satisfy licensing requirements before approval * Applicants must provide information regarding their household and lifestyle * Providers must comply with all licensing and program expectations * Providers should value diversity and support individuals with a wide range of personalities and support needs Support Services of Virginia values diversity and inclusion and welcomes candidates from all backgrounds.
