Support Services of Virginia is seeking Sponsored Residential Providers throughout South Central Virginia to provide long-term, home-based support for adults with intellectual disabilities. Providers offer a safe, supportive home environment where individuals can build independence, strengthen community connections, and receive person-centered support. Household Types Welcome We welcome applications from: * Individuals * Couples or partners * Family groups and shared households Households with children younger than 12 years old are generally not preferred for this program. Qualifications & Experience Applicants must: * Be at least 21 years of age * Have a high school diploma or GED * Be actively involved in their local community * Have a minimum of six months of personal or professional experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, preferably adults * Be comfortable using computers and electronic documentation systems * Demonstrate strong written communication skills Applicants who do not yet meet the experience requirement may have opportunities to gain qualifying experience through SSVA's Direct Support Professional (DSP) program. Relatives of eligible individuals may also become Sponsored Residential Providers; however, additional approval requirements apply to related providers. About the Provider Role Sponsored Residential Providers partner with Support Services of Virginia as independent subcontractors and are not employees of SSVA. Providers are responsible for supporting an individual's daily needs while encouraging independence, community participation, and personal growth. SSVA carefully matches individuals with provider homes based on lifestyle, interests, and overall compatibility. Program Information * Payments are issued biweekly * Certification may take up to three months to complete * Required training is provided at no cost * Homes must meet licensing standards before approval * Applicants must provide detailed household and lifestyle information * Providers are expected to follow all licensing and program requirements * Providers should embrace diversity and support individuals with a variety of personalities and support needs Support Services of Virginia values diversity and inclusion and welcomes candidates from all backgrounds.
