Description The Spool Fitter/Welder is responsible for performing all welding and fitting tasks required to thermally join pressure-containing piping and structural weldments during assembly. This role transforms engineering documentation into high-quality welded assemblies by following qualified Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), adhering to GasTech Quality Requirements, and meeting production schedule expectations. The position supports GasTech’s goal of maintaining a highly respected manufacturing operation within the process equipment industry. a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5; } The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Welding & Fabrication Set up and run RT- and UT-quality pipe welds in accordance with applicable WPSs. Perform branch welds in all required positions. Execute structural and non-code welds independently. Perform weld repairs for UT- or RT-quality welds as required. Clean, inspect, and properly stamp all welds. Safely set up and operate oxy-fuel cutting/burning equipment. Fitting & Assembly Position, fit, and assemble vessel and skid piping according to drawings and specifications. Interpret and apply engineering drawings, WPS/PQR documents, and pipe specifications. Identify and properly install valves, instruments, and associated fittings. Conduct hydrostatic testing, including setup, execution, and documentation. Quality & Safety Maintain deep working knowledge of PT, MT, UT, and RT methods for weld quality verification. Consistently meet GasTech quality standards, including maintaining an excellent weld repair percentage. Follow all safety protocols, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment. Maintain professional housekeeping standards within work areas. Teamwork & Communication Work collaboratively within the manufacturing team to meet production goals. Communicate effectively with supervisors, inspectors, and team members. Maintain a positive, cooperative attitude and reliable, punctual attendance. Demonstrate the ability to plan work, think ahead, and make sound decisions. Requirements High school diploma or GED required. 6-10 years of Tig Welding experience Successful completion of a GasTech-qualified welding test. Vocational/technical welding education preferred. Experience with ASME/ANSI piping codes preferred. Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment preferred. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, and meet deadlines.
