Thomas seeks a new faculty member in Sport Management effective Fall 2019 to join a vibrant and expanding College dedicated to student success. Thomas offers a range of majors in both business fields and career-oriented liberal arts programs. Students benefit from close working relationships with their faculty, and a wide range of internship opportunities both locally and through partnerships such as the Washington Center for Internships. Candidates should be prepared to offer a range of courses in sport management as part of the College’s programs in Sport Management, including but not limited to sport finance, sport administration, and business management. At the same time, the candidate should be prepared to design and deliver new courses that support and complement strong undergraduate programs in business administration. Instruction is expected to incorporate the use of modern technology and data-driven tools relevant to both sport and business contexts. Candidates must be committed to teaching excellence, service to the College, community engagement, and ongoing professional development. Responsibilities for full-time faculty include a 4/4 teaching load, academic advising, committee service, and course and program development. Teaching assignments may include face-to-face, online, and hybrid course formats. Preference will be given to candidates with an appropriate terminal degree. Evidence of engaging teaching also is preferred, as well as familiarity with information technology and its implementation in the classroom. Responsibilities
The faculty member will be responsible for teaching a range of courses in sport management and developing new courses that support undergraduate programs in business administration. Responsibilities also include academic advising, committee service, and course and program development.
