OVERVIEW:

Foundation Sports & Play is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Sports Coach Activity Leader to join our team. This role involves leading sports and physical activity sessions for children and young people, promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The ideal candidate will have a passion for sports and a strong desire to inspire and engage with children to enhance their physical and social skills through active play.
Our coaches all follow our coaching values of Energy, Enthusiasm and Engagement (3 E’s)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Relevant qualifications in Sports Coaching, Physical Education, Child Development, or related fields.
  • Proven experience as a sports coach or activity leader, especially in a school or community setting.
  • Strong understanding of child development and the importance of physical activity for young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and build rapport with children.
  • First Aid and Safeguarding Certs
  • A positive attitude, with a flexible approach to working hours and tasks.
  • A clear background check and DBS clearance (or equivalent, depending on location).

Responsibilities
  • Plan, organise, and lead sports and activity sessions that are engaging, educational, and fun for children of various age groups.
  • Ensure all activities are inclusive, safe, and aligned with the objectives of Foundation Sports & Play.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of sessions and make adjustments as needed to meet the developmental needs of participants.
  • Maintain a safe and positive environment for all participants, adhering to all safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with children, parents, and other staff to foster a supportive community.
  • Manage equipment and resources effectively, ensuring they are prepared for each session and maintained properly.
  • Attend staff meetings and training as required, and continuously seek professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Report on session activities, including participant progress and any incidents, maintaining accurate and timely records.
  • Participate in the promotion of Foundation Sports & Play programs and events within the community.
