Summary of the role
Job Title: Sports Coaching Professional
Department: Sport
Location: Bedford School, De Parys Avenue, Bedford
Job Purpose: To coach Rugby to a high level across the school, contributing signif icantly to the development of
A teams. To coach at least one other major school sport (Cricket, Rowing or Hockey), assist with
PE lessons, deliver co-curricular clubs, contribute to the boarding community, support sports
administration, and lead or accompany trips as required.
Reporting Line: Director of Sport
Hours: Full time including weekends when the school is in session. The post holder will be required to work
as necessary to complete the job (subject to the Working Time Regulations 1998). The successful
candidate should be willing to contribute fully to the life of the school including weekend teaching
and f ixtures, as well as be involved in trips out of term time.
Salary: £30,000 circa.
Contract: Full time

Main duties and responsibilities
You are expected to act in accordance with the aims, policies and administrative procedures of the school.
The Sports Coaching Professional (Rugby Specialist) will be line managed by the Director of Sport. For rugby related
duties, line management will be from the Director of Rugby.

Responsibilities
  • Coach the 1st XV Rugby team and support coaching across other A teams, enhancing coaching quality and team

performance across all age groups

  • Work under the direction of the Director of Rugby for all Rugby-specif ic responsibilities.
  • Take a leading role in the Spring Term Rugby 7s programme, including coaching and managing teams at Sunday

tournaments.

  • Coach at least one other major school sport (Cricket, Rowing, or Hockey).
