North Coast Football Zone Inc. (NCF) is the peak body for football across the North Coast of New South Wales, administering competitions, player development, and community engagement programs for more than 6,000 participants across 24 clubs. We are passionate about growing the game at grassroots and elite levels, and we work closely with clubs, schools, and community groups to ensure football remains the most inclusive and accessible sport in our region.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma or higher qualification, and 1 year of related work experience; or at least three years of related experience.
  • A recognised coaching accreditation (minimum FFA/AFC C Licence or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience in sports development, coaching, or program delivery.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage players, coaches, parents, and community stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to plan, organise, and deliver structured sporting programs.
  • Knowledge of the Australian football landscape, including grassroots, community, and elite pathways.
  • Commitment to child safety, inclusion, and community engagement.
  • Current Working with Children Check issued by the NSW Government (or ability to obtain).
  • Valid driver’s licence.
Responsibilities

THE ROLE

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Sports Development Officer to join our team. This position plays a key role in implementing player and coach development programs, delivering community engagement initiatives, and supporting the growth and sustainability of football across our region.
Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for developing and delivering structured football programs, liaising with clubs and schools, and supporting talent pathways for youth players.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate player development programs across all age groups, including talent identification and pathway initiatives.
  • Support the implementation of coach education and mentoring programs.
  • Engage with schools, community groups, and clubs to grow participation and deliver grassroots programs.
  • Organise and conduct clinics, workshops, and promotional events to encourage involvement in football.
  • Monitor and report on participation and development outcomes to management and stakeholders.
  • Assist in the delivery of competitions and representative programs, ensuring alignment with Football Australia and Northern NSW Football frameworks.
  • Promote inclusion, diversity, and accessibility in all football development activities.
  • Develop and implement strategic participation plans in line with Football Australia and Northern NSW Football policies.
  • Contribute to the development of long-term growth strategies for football in the region.
  • Ensure all programs comply with child safety legislation, member protection policies, and Work Health and Safety (WHS) standards.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with competition regulations and codes of conduct.
  • Collect, analyse, and report on participation statistics and performance metrics for players, coaches, and programs.
  • Prepare annual development reports for stakeholders and funding bodies.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with schools, community groups, and local councils to expand football participation.
  • Represent North Coast Football at regional and state-level forums, advocating for local football development needs.
  • Work closely with our communications manager by delivering media, marketing, and promotional activities to raise awareness and participation in football.
  • Oversee the logistics and coordination of tournaments, and festivals of football.
  • Liaise with referees, volunteers, and club officials to ensure smooth delivery of events.
