Now Hiring at the Boll Family YMCA YMCA Employee Benefits FREE Family Membership & Discounted Access to Programs Flexible Scheduling Family-friendly Work Environment Employee Assistance Program & Retirement Plan General Function The Gymnastics Instructor Aide will be responsible for assisting in teaching the three YMCA Gymnastics Recreational–Competitive Classes which are focused on Women’s Artistic Gymnastics [Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced]. Education/Experience/Training/Certifications Must be at least 16+ years of age Experience training competitive gymnastics preferred; general knowledge required Experience/ability to learn to assist with hand spotting preferred; willingness to learn preferred Experience working with youth gymnastics preferred; interest in learning required CPR and First Aid certifications must be current/obtained within 30 days of hire Job Duties & Responsibilities Acts as a positive, self-confident role model for YMCA Gymnastics class participants Maintains a professional demeanor and safe and effective learning environment appropriate for children at all times Teaches the three YMCA Gymnastics Recreational–Competitive Classes which are focused on Women’s Artistic Gymnastics [Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced] Willing to learn teaching techniques/drills/hand spotting for all thee class curriculums Creates and implements lesson plans and rotation schedules for classes Monitor Gymnastics Instructor Aides when in the Gymnastics Center Assists with equipment maintenance, including cleaning and advise Head Coach of equipment needs and repairs Performs other assigned duties as directed by Supervisor Abilities & Skills Ability to move equipment; must have the strength to lift, carry, push or pull up to 90 pounds Able to observe and evaluate activities from up to 30 yards away in an indoor gym setting For more opportunities to join our team, please visit the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit's career page (ymcadetroit.org/careers). The Gymnastics Instructor Aide will assist in teaching YMCA Gymnastics Recreational–Competitive Classes focused on Women’s Artistic Gymnastics. Responsibilities include creating lesson plans, monitoring other aides, and maintaining a safe learning environment.
