The Sidney Daily News is seeking a full-time multimedia reporter who is eager to lead our sports department in our four-person newsroom, focusing on high school sports in Shelby County. Candidates should also be willing to help with general news coverage during off-times for sports and could take sports photos at events if needed.
There will be ample story opportunities as our local teams routinely make deep postseason runs and many area athletes continue to play collegiately after graduation.
Night and weekend work will be required. The reporter will be required to be at events in person, but there are opportunities to work from home to write stories.
The Sidney Daily News is the paper of record for Shelby County with roots stretching back over 100 years. We publish twice weekly (Wednesdays and Saturdays) and are focusing on producing a stronger daily product on our website.
Sidney is an affordable city with a population a little over 20,000 located about 45 minutes north of Dayton on Interstate 75. The city is enjoying a downtown revitalization and is home to one of the best city parks around. Numerous recreation opportunities abound in the region, including two state parks located in or near Shelby County. The county is home to Country Concert, one of the largest outdoor concerts in the country each year.

We welcome a candidate who is willing to learn, and multiple years of experience aren’t necessary, such as a recent college graduate.
