Description Sunshine Disposal & Recycling has an opening for a full-time employee as a Spotter/Materials Recovery processor at our Spokane Valley, WA location. This is a full time, day-shift position. Current available shift is Sunday-Wednesday (4 days); 6:30am – 5:00pm (10-hour shift). This job includes assisting with traffic control in a transfer station setting; as well as moving recoverable materials and some facility clean up. Current wage rate is $18.13 per hour, as well as annual COLA. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each of the essential duties/responsibilities listed below. Provides continuous visual monitoring of traffic entering and leaving the transfer station site. Visually inspects incoming loads for unacceptable materials Provides exceptional customer service to all residential and commercial customers. Gives directive signals and/or verbal instructions to customer vehicles to optimize safe flow of traffic. Pick up litter and debris on an ongoing basis each day in transfer station and parking lot areas. Separates recyclables from tipping floor areas and places into appropriate area/receptacles. Operates forklift when required/requested by supervisor (must complete training). Attend all necessary meetings as scheduled including safety meetings. Performs all other duties as assigned. Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the minimum qualifications listed below. These qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform this job. Education/Experience: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have: High school diploma or GED preferred. Valid Driver’s License preferred Forklift Operator Certification must be obtained when scheduled by the company HAZWOPER Certification to be completed when scheduled by the company Fall Protection training required at time of hire. Other safety training must be completed when scheduled by the company Physical Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to: Regularly (6-10 hours per day): sit, stand, walk, seeing, hearing. Occasionally (2-4 hours per day): pull/push, stoop/crouch, bend/twist, grasp, fine finger manipulation, reach, lift up to 40 pounds. Clearly see 20+ feet, with or without corrective lenses and differentiate between colors.
Responsibilities
The employee will monitor traffic at a transfer station, provide customer service, and direct vehicles for safe flow. Additionally, they will perform material recovery, facility cleanup, and operate a forklift as needed.
