Downer is seeking an experienced Spray Seal Manager to lead Metro operations based out of our depot in Pinkenba, QLD. This is a pivotal leadership role within our Queensland team, responsible for managing resources, driving operational excellence, fostering strong stakeholder relationships and identifying improvement efficiencies. Key Responsibilities: Lead depot operations and manage annual budgets. Plan and coordinate resources to deliver high-quality spray seal projects. Build and maintain client relationships, identifying new business opportunities. Oversee financial performance, reporting, and forecasting. Provide strategic leadership across staff groups and major initiatives. Ensure compliance with safety procedures and promote a safety-first culture. Collaborate with internal departments (HR, IT, Finance) to ensure efficient support services. Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. About You: Minimum 10 years of spray seal experience or good knowledge of pavements and asphalt. Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering preferable. Proven experience in senior management within spray seal, asphalt or civil works. Demonstrated ability to manage complex civil construction projects. Sound financial acumen including budget development and forecasting. Knowledge of government contract management and operational best practices. Strong HR management, communication, and negotiation skills. High-level verbal and written communication skills. Collaborative leadership style and commitment to professional ethics.
