Hello! We are looking for a dedicated SQF Coordinator to join the team! Del Real Foods is a traditional Mexican food manufacturer born out of a family farm. Today, Del Real Food makes tamales, carnitas, salsas, and other recipes inspired by the Cardenas’ native Jalisco – all created by hand with fresh ingredients and nothing artificial.

The employee performs a full range of assignments within Quality Assurance/Food Safety, collaborating with the Quality Assurance Manager. This position supports Food Safety/Quality and ensures the company’s compliance with SQF, USDA, and FDA related programs, as well as Non-GMO, GAP, Organic, and Gluten-free requirements, and standards. The position is also responsible for ensuring that all quality and food safety documents comply with applicable regulations and standards.

C. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • : bachelor’s degree in food science or similar field
  • Minimum 3-year experience in Quality function in the Food Industry
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish), a plus.
  • SQF Practitioner
  • HACCP Certification
  • PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual)

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Follows and enforces employee’s safety procedures
  • Report any unsafe conditions to immediate supervisor or manager
  • Follow, Monitor, and Enforce all food safety procedures and regulations.
  • Follows and enforces SQF requirements (Facilities, Equipment, SSOP, SOP, GMP’s)
  • Follows and enforces USDA & FDA guidelines, standards and regulations.
  • Follow Company Policies, Regulations, and Lunch & Break Policies
  • Data Trend Analysis
  • Risk Assessments/analysis
  • Must possess the abilities to conduct a adequate microbiological, chemical and physical risk assessments for all new and existing suppliers, Ingredients and internal processes.

REQUIREMENTS AND DUTIES:

  • Extensive knowledge of HACCP and GMP’s required in a USDA Establishment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint (especially proficient in using Excel formulas) and electronic communication tools.

Position Area Duties (1-16 listed below)

  • Lead the development and implementation of food safety fundamentals
  • Oversee the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the SQF System, including food safety fundamentals
  • Walk the production floor and conduct audit of process and audit SOP’s.
  • Familiarity with traceability systems, recall procedures, and risk assessment
  • Write and maintain food safety and quality plans
  • Oversee and validate corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs)
  • Develop and maintain HACCP plans, quality programs, and SOPs
  • Lead internal audits and manage third-party audit preparation
  • Understands the SQF Codes and the requirements to implement and maintain SQF System relevant to Del Real Foods scope of certification.
  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate activities related to the SQF program.
  • Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF System
  • Communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF System.
  • The SQF Coordinator holds a position of responsibility in relation to the management of the supplier’s SQF
  • Have an understanding of the SQF Code level III and the requirements to implement and maintain SQF System relevant to Del Real Foods scope of certification.
  • Schedule, coordinate and execute continuous SQF related training to personnel and keep training records readily available.
  • Support Production in the application of the SQF rules by the employees
  • Train and supervise management employees that have a role in the SQF Program to ensure their good understanding of the rules and development as a team of the best control measures possible
  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate activities related to the Safe Quality Food (SQF) program
  • Ensure that SQF rules are being respected rigorously
  • Develop, maintain, validate and revise annually the SQF Program
  • Participate and take the lead in the company’s internal audits
  • Train and supervise quality assurance technicians in the application and/or monitor the SQF control
