Description
Analyze existing MS Access databases to understand data structures, relationships, queries, forms, reports, and VBA code. Design and implement optimized SQL Server database schemas, including tables, views, stored procedures, and functions, to replace Access functionality. Develop and execute data migration strategies, including ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, to transfer data from Access to SQL Server. Ensure data integrity and consistency throughout the migration, implementing validation checks and reconciliation procedures. Refactor or rewrite VBA code from Access forms and reports into appropriate SQL Server or application-level solutions. Optimize SQL Server database performance through indexing, query tuning, and other best practices. Collaborate with stakeholders, developers, and end-users to gather requirements, provide technical guidance, and ensure a smooth transition. Document database designs, migration processes, and any new functionalities implemented in SQL Server. Provide support and troubleshooting for issues arising during and after the migration. Proven experience in designing, developing, and maintaining complex MS Access databases, including VBA programming. Strong proficiency in SQL Server database development and administration, including T-SQL, schema design, and performance tuning. Understanding of relational database concepts and data modeling. Ability to analyze and transform data effectively. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
