Description
Company Description Big challenges need bold thinkers. If you’re someone who sees problems as opportunities, you’ll thrive here. RESPEC is 100% employee-owned, which means we take ownership of every challenge. Here, your ideas drive real solutions. Since 1969, we’ve tackled complex challenges in energy transition, infrastructure resilience, digital transformation, and sustainability. At RESPEC, you’ll work alongside clients to take on critical problems. Depending on your expertise, you might design infrastructure in remote locations, develop renewable energy solutions for global projects, or apply data-driven technology to improve mining and water systems. We bring deep technical knowledge, real-world experience, and a commitment to work that matters. If you're looking for a place where your contributions have real impact, you’ll fit right in. We do not accept unsolicited resumes from third-party recruiters. Job Description The SQL Server DBA will maintain, enhance, and further develop a long-lifespan, stored-procedure–centric application. This role ensures performant and reliable data operations through expert query tuning, stored procedure development, SSRS reporting, and robust database design. You will translate complex client requirements into actionable technical tasks while supporting a normalized, multi-module environment. T-SQL Codebase Ownership: Maintain, develop, refactor, and optimize a T-SQL codebase (queries, views, stored procedures, functions) across all OBMS modules. Performance Engineering: Perform query tuning, indexing, and performance diagnostics as needed and as appropriate for a large and complex database. SSRS Reporting: Design, develop, maintain and deploy SSRS reports, ensuring high standards for data accuracy and presentation to non-technical clients. Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with the client and other RESPEC consultants on the OBMS team to elicit business requirements and transform them into database design. Help Desk Tickets: Work tickets triaged by a help desk; manage priorities and communicate status/risks clearly. Design and Implementation: Contribute to database design patterns for new/enhanced modules, looking for opportunities to evolve or leverage the system's existing architecture where appropriate. Governance and Quality: Document changes, follow proper change management processes, and uphold best practices for multi-environment migrations. Qualifications Experience: 7-10+ years with hands-on SQL Server experience in production environments with a heavy emphasis on stored procedure usage. Technical Mastery: Proven expertise in query tuning and performance optimization for large, complex databases (e.g. execution plan analysis, indexing strategies). Reporting Expertise: Experience in the full SSRS development lifecycle, from design of the queries used, to the report, to deployment. Communication: Strong consulting orientation with the ability to effectively communicate to both technical team members and non-technical clients/stakeholders. Seniority and Attitude: A seasoned professional capable of navigating a large codebase and dealing with a steep learning curve. Logistics: Willingness and ability to work in the office in Albuquerque, NM or Richardson, TX at least three days a week. Nice-to-Haves Ecosystem Knowledge: Familiarity with or exposure to .NET or .NET Framework and frontend technologies (HTMl, CSS, JavaScript) or frameworks (Angular). Domain Expertise: Experience working within budgeting systems, financial platforms, or fund-based accounting. Multidimensional Database Knowledge: Familiarity with or exposure to OLAP/multidimensional models. Additional Information Compensation: Salary depends on experience and expertise.
