Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting, the Senior Accountant will assist with the accounting, reporting and analysis of the Corporate and NPK Operating Segment results. This position requires a high degree of cross-department and cross-operating segment interaction. The Corporate Accounting department operates with a significant number of deadlines and reporting obligations and as such, the successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Preparation of the quarterly accounting and reporting for defined contribution pension, defined benefit pension, and other post-retirement benefits plans
  • Providing accounting support for curtailments and amendments of defined benefit pension plans
  • Preparation of monthly journal entries and working papers, including designated and non-designated hedging activities and hedge effectiveness testing
  • Responsible for the review and analysis of embedded derivatives
  • Responsible for the preparation of Corporate and NPK business unit management reporting, including P&L and Balance Sheet Variance analysis
  • Completion of monthly, quarterly and annual account reconciliations
  • Preparation and review of other month-end close activities as assigned
  • Prepare and review external reporting schedules and requests
  • Prepare and review information requests from external and internal auditors
  • Support and assist with continuous improvement initiatives and projects as required
