Minneapolis, Minnesota Position: Sr. Accountant – General Accounting Department: Finance Primary Objective of Position: Responsible for the timeliness and accuracy of financial information pertaining to actual, forecasted, and budgeted data. Major Areas of Accountability: Prepares timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reports and data as required by the Corporation, public auditors, and various State and Federal regulatory agencies. Conducts monthly review, analysis, and reconciliation of general ledger accounts, including capital expenditure activity. Prepares and reviews journal entries to accurately and completely reflect the financial transactions of the Company’s ledgers, including adjusting entries (accruals/deferrals and amortization/depreciation). Daily cash management, including writing and clearing accounts payable checks and vendor credit card payments, preparing wires, and monitoring cash balances to maintain optimal cash in the interest account. Maintains tactful and cooperative relationship with other departments. Communicates effectively with all other departments and with all levels of management. Assures consistent and accurate treatment of Company’s financial records through development, maintenance and practice of generally accepted accounting procedures. Insures constant improvement of present accounting structure by suggesting, and with Management approval, implementing systems changes which will more efficiently accumulate data. Awareness of accepted accounting policies and procedures to insure that internal accounting systems accurately record and report Company’s true financial position. Provides prompt and accurate disposition of accounting questions and problems as they occur. Fulfill information requests of outside tax preparer (in multiple formats, as necessary), prepares deferred tax calculation, prepares and submits state and provincial compliance filings (Canadian GST/HST, Minnesota sales tax, payroll and/or sales tax for other states), and maintains annual tax depreciation schedule. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 4-year degree in Business with Accounting major or equivalent Five years experience in accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment Knowledge of PC and Microsoft Office Suite Demonstrated ability to analyze data trends and formulate conclusions Good verbal and written communication skills Working knowledge of SAP ERP, particularly the transactions within the financial module. Certified Public Accountant Physical Requirements: Physical ability to travel freely within manufacturing and office facilities. This requires climbing stairs and moving over, around, and about shop machinery. Have the physical ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds unassisted.
