Senior Accountant - Contract Position This is a project-based role with a company experiencing significant growth. The successful candidate will be high-energy, extremely motivated and willing to roll up their sleeves. We’re looking for a Sr Accountant to apply technical accounting expertise while working with multiple business units to complete all necessary accounting transactions, reconciliations, and variance analysis. Assist with business unit reporting, billing, budgeting, and pricing. Effectively communicate and problem solve. Hybrid role will be based in Somerset, NJ with some flexibility to work remotely 1 or 2 days/week. Urgently Hiring - must be available to start asap! Responsibilities As a temporary role, a number of these responsibilities will be prioritized. Provide support for individual business units accounting requirements. Manage monthly general ledger closing and related processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations. Accomplish day-to-day accounting activities, including billing / revenue cycle management and accounts payable, in a shared services environment Coordinate accounting and reporting activities, and internal controls, at multiple business units. Ensure appropriate application of GAAP, with emphasis on revenue recognition, capitalization of software development/implementation costs, lease accounting, and acquisition accounting. Evaluate impact of, and properly apply, new accounting pronouncements. Utilize general ledger and accounting/ERP system. Liaise with other functions and service providers as necessary and appropriate – for example, with human resources for payroll and benefits, with legal for annual insurance renewals, etc. Partner with business unit leadership to understand business dynamics, needs and time-frames for proper accounting. Collaborate and communicate regularly with business unit leadership. The above duties are meant to be representative of the position and not all-inclusive. Qualifications Education/Business Experience: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting CPA strongly preferred Business Experience: 5 to 10 years’ progressive experience in accounting and financial management Experience in private equity-backed middle market companies and/or divisions of public companies operated as standalone entities, referred Public accounting background preferred Industry Experience (preferred, not required): Pharmaceutical, Distribution, Services KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Tangible / technical skills: Technical GAAP knowledge Experience with financial/ERP software. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 a strong plus Strong hands-on Excel skills Project management capabilities.
