Description

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join our team in Toronto, Ontario, on a long-term contract basis. In this role, you will play a critical part in organizing and managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax filings, and general bookkeeping. This position offers a valuable opportunity to work hands-on with financial processes and contribute to clearing existing backlogs while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and organize accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate entries.
  • Perform reconciliations for various accounts, including legal and vendor accounts, to maintain financial accuracy.
  • Prepare and file taxes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and deadlines.
  • Post invoices and manage wire transfers using Sage 300, ensuring proper documentation and accuracy.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes by preparing balance sheets, journal entries, and other financial reports.
  • Collaborate with the Controller to address backlogged tasks and streamline financial operations.
  • Utilize intermediate Excel skills to analyze and manage financial data efficiently.
  • Cross-train with other team members to ensure operational coverage and reduce risk.
  • Provide support for banking activities, including reconciliations and transaction monitoring.
  • Assist in resolving discrepancies by investigating and analyzing financial data.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or a related field.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software such as Sage 300, NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP.
  • Strong understanding of account reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger processes.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to work with medium-sized data sets.
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and tax filing processes.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
