Description:

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Accountant in the construction/contractor industry, based in Plymouth, Minnesota. This role primarily involves the management of general ledger, preparation of financial statements, and bank reconciliation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the general ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, providing detailed reports and insights.
  • Conduct bank reconciliation tasks regularly to confirm the company’s records are consistent with bank statements.
  • Utilize skills in journal entry preparation, posting, and adjustment to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Manage the financial close process monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Prepare trial balance sheets and make necessary adjustments.
  • Ensure the accuracy of audited financial statements.
  • Utilize knowledge of month-end and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Analyze financial statements, identifying and explaining variances and trends.
  • Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest developments in accounting and related areas.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a Senior Accountant role within the construction or contractor industry.
  • Proficiency in posting and adjusting journal entries, journal entry preparation is required.
  • Expertise in handling general ledger and preparing trial balance is necessary.
  • Experience in analyzing and auditing financial statements is crucial.
  • Must have a strong understanding of financial statement preparation.
  • Knowledge of annual close processes, financial close process, ledger close, and month end close is essential.
  • Should possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are needed.
  • Must have the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is necessary.
  • Professional certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) is a plus.
  • Must have a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion is needed.
