SR. ACCOUNTANT POSITION
Reporting to the Director of Business Affairs & General Counsel, and working with managers and staff throughout the company, the Sr. Accountant oversees all financial activities of a specialty chemical company with multiple international locations, as well as for several other family-owned holding companies. Responsible for all financial reporting, the Sr. Accountant develops and implements accounting policies, systems, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to the Managing Director, Owners, and Management Team. The Sr. Accountant ensures all sales activities are informed by the correct financial data and interfaces with the Sales Leadership Team.
Main Responsibilities & Duties:
- Leads the internal accounting functions.
- Ensure any staff working on accounting functions have clear direction, feedback and that financial reporting activities are completed on an accurate and timely basis.
- Prepares monthly income, receivables, payables, cash flow, and balance statements and are timely and accurate and assists with planning of sales management activities.
- Prepares regular company metrics and special reports for the Managing Director, Sales team, and Management Team.
- Communicates with customers on an as-needed basis.
- Annually, prepares and presents financial year-end reports and analyses.
- Reviews expenses and ensures signoffs for all expense statements are obtained.
- Develops and implements accounting policies, procedures, and systems to ensure company financial information is fairly stated.
- Organizes audits and assists external auditors as required.
- Works with external accounting firms on tax management and is responsible for tax filings.
- Keeps up to date with accounting changes in Canada, the US, and the EU.
- Creates the corporate metrics necessary to ensure targets are being met and creates, monitors, and reports on the tracking towards the targets.
- Manages external communications to authorities, regulators, etc. on all financial matters.
- Builds processes to add ‘checks and balances’ to all financial processes with an eye to creating processes that are 100% transparent.
- Liaises with, and coordinates the work of, external accountants.
- Maintains and manages banking relationships and banking activities.
- Attends and participates fully in internal management and all-staff meetings.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Teamwork & Supervision:
- Reports directly to the Director of Business Affairs & General Counsel and works closely with the full Management Team and Regional Sales Directors.
- Oversees all accounting/financial work – regardless of who is doing the tasks.
- Provides financial support to the Regional Sales Directors and Sales team.
- Works closely with Manufacturing and R&D to ensure all product costing and raw material ordering are maximized.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $75,000.00-$110,000.08 per year
