Description

Purpose of Position: This position leads and executes advanced development projects related to autonomy and artificial intelligence research within the company.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Propose and lead projects for the application of cutting-edge autonomy and artificial intelligence techniques to EO/IR gimbals and their deployment on Group 1-3 UAS.
  • Responsible for the implementation and optimization of advanced autonomy and AI algorithms for edge UAV applications on low-SWAP and embedded compute architectures.
  • Provide internal and external subject matter expertise in the areas of autonomy , the application of AI to controls, and the integration of advanced autonomous controllers with advanced artificial intelligence computer vision systems.
  • Design and Architect new autonomous controllers to support advanced artificial intelligence based detect, classify, localize and tracking, including search optimization.
  • Work with other subject matter experts and technical directors to support design and architecture of a full artificial intelligence software stack for the Trillium gimbal family.
  • Interface with customers as a subject matter expert
  • Responsible for interfacing with software engineers and translation of autonomous control algorithms into the larger real-time embedded code base
  • Responsible for developing models of algorithms utilizing prototyping languages and using these models to analyze and improve their performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Qualifications:

  • Masters in Autonomous Controls (or related field), PhD preferred
  • Expert in the field of Autonomous Unmanned Vehicle Controller development (land, sea, air or space)
  • Demonstrated experience with autonomy development that includes field testing on robotic systems
  • Additional experience in one or more areas: inertial navigation, GPS navigation, vehicle trajectory modeling/simulation, estimation theory (e.g. Kalman Filtering), GNC (Guidance, Navigation & Control).
  • Implemented one or more navigation algorithms in a fielded product (e.g. aircraft, UAV,
  • Experience in military requirements preferred.
  • Demonstrated scientific conference/journal publication history preferred.
