As Senior Analyst, International Tax, you will play a critical role in managing the foreign tax compliance and provision activities related to our international subsidiaries. You will also involve compliance with the Canadian foreign affiliate rules such as surplus calculations and adjusted cost base computations. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Canadian international tax laws, particularly the foreign affiliate rules, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment within a publicly traded company.

Responsibilities
  • Review or calculate surplus balances of foreign affiliates and adjusted cost base for group entities to support compliance and tax planning initiatives
  • Collaborate with Nutrien’s global tax team to perform tax provision calculations for international entities in accordance with IFRS and foreign tax regulations
  • Support the year-end tax provision process by analyzing international tax balances, reconciling tax pools, and preparing necessary work papers
  • Assist with the preparation of tax return schedules related to international entities, including transfer pricing documentation if applicable
  • Support tax audits and inquiries from Canadian tax authorities related to foreign affiliate activities
  • Identify opportunities to automate workflows and collaborate with the Tax Technology team to automate processes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Legal, and external advisors, to ensure alignment on tax positions and reporting
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting the Canadian foreign affiliate regime and provide timely updates and guidance to internal stakeholders
  • Assist in developing tax strategies to optimize tax efficiency within the Canadian international tax framework
  • Maintain and enhance internal processes and controls related to international tax compliance and reporting
