Responsibilities

WHY THIS ROLE?

At Flexport, we’re not just moving containers - we’re rethinking how global trade works. As a Senior Associate for Ocean freight, you’ll be hands-on with the product that powers nearly 80% of global trade. This isn’t just logistics- it’s tech-driven innovation at scale.

Your responsibilities as a Senior Associate, Ocean Freight include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Help manage a the Ocean P&L for your district through scaling volume and increasing yield
  • Be the market expert and support the commercial organization with market-specific intelligence, trade idiosyncrasies, and directly interfacing with customer
  • Help design products and generate customized go-to-market strategies for customers
  • Manage partner relationships and negotiations for your region
  • Analyze the P&L and create reports
  • Help with tenders and RFQs for your district to secure regional and global customers
  • Interface with procurement and pricing teams to drive profitable business, identify growth opportunities, and capture market-specific knowledge
  • Identify and drive improvement in go-to-market, operational, and financial processes
  • Participate in P&L reviews and book of business growth rhythms
  • Build and maintain carrier relationships on the district level to identify local carrier interests and support localized procurement
  • Partner with commercial teams to understand and translate customers’ growth potential and levers
  • Work across Procurement, Pricing, Planning, and District Management teams to deliver globally optimized results to the Ocean P&
