POSITION SPECIFIC DESCRIPTION

Business Management is seeking a Senior Business Management Analyst for the South Region team. The South Region team is responsible for the commercial and strategic management of NextEra’s assets in SPP, ERCOT, and the Southeastern United States.
As part of the regional team, the senior business management analyst will perform analysis on variety of issues impacting our assets such as repowering, re-contracting, curtailments, regulatory and energy market changes, and deviations in expected financial performance. The senior analyst will manage projects and initiatives, working closely with the Power Generation Division, as well as development, finance, accounting, technical, and legal subject matter experts, to achieve short term results and develop and execute long term strategies. The senior analyst will engage directly with customers and be an integral part of the regional team’s general asset management responsibilities to maximize return on investment while ensuring compliance with project agreements, regulatory, and market requirements.
The senior business management analyst must be comfortable working in a constantly changing environment as well as finding her/his own opportunities to pitch to management and execute. Generally, the South Region team defines its own priorities and the senior business management analyst will play a key role.
The successful candidate will be data-driven with demonstrated expertise in technical and financial analysis, a working knowledge of tax and accounting principles, energy industry experience, preferably in renewables or utilities. MBAs, MFIN, CFA preferred. (Travel is expected to be approximately 5% of time).
Job Overview
Employees in this role support the overall P and L management of one or more NextEra generating assets. Individuals review findings to be presented to senior management. This position supports budgeting and forecasting, analyzing P and L variance, participating in ad hoc and special projects and coordinates with other business units regarding initiatives.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Completes complex financial, operational, or technical project analysis
  • Conducts analyses regarding issues that have an impact on the operation of a specific functional area and makes recommendations to management
  • Leads medium to large project teams that support informed decision making within the business unit
  • Maintains project schedules and reviews team member input and documents for technical accuracy
  • Performs ad hoc projects, report development, modeling, and other miscellaneous projects
  • Oversees discretionary capital improvement or restructuring projects for generating assets
  • Generates invoices for land owner payments
  • Monitors financings and regulatory requirements for compliance and completion of operational assessments
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience:5+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Master’s - Business Administration
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
