QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • 8 - 10 years carpentry experience minimum.
  • 3 years experience leading a small construction team.
  • Strong leadership and relationship building skills.
  • Good judgment, sound decision making, motivated and self-directed.
  • Professional work ethic, reliable, positive attitude
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job:
  • Effective communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to read and analyze construction drawings.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Valid G driver’s license

Responsibilities
  • On-site project management and supervision.
  • Reports directly to the Project Manager.
  • Track and report daily progress through standard processes.
  • Supervise and direct carpenters, helpers and subcontractors when required.
  • Read and interpret drawings.
  • Prepare layouts using measuring tools.
  • Measure, cut and assemble materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials.
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, interior and exterior framing and roofing systems.
  • Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, mouldings, hardware
  • Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring and barricades required at construction sites.
  • Carry, place and install rebar, dowels and rock anchors.
  • Perform other activities at construction sites, as directed.
