Description POSITION SUMMARY: Develop and document the scope of work, specifications, design, logic flow, PLC controls, and oversee cellular interfacing for new & legacy equipment. Support MFG/IT/IS objectives for Real Time Production Monitoring (RTPM) and collect OEE and Machine Downtime performance. Responsible for supporting Manufacturing goals for Equipment Data Acquisition and “Real Time Process Monitoring”. Position requires travel to all plants to oversee and support as needed with the install, and interfacing of RTPM with the new Equipment and Cells. Position requires strong written and communications skills, ability to manage multiple projects and interact with technical topics with existing and developing new suppliers. Advanced Manufacturing Engineering via researching new equipment replacing outdated controls, underperforming equipment and providing new Injection Molding Technology capabilities within Phoenix. Support for projects reducing cost of utilities such as Energy and Water at the Production Sites. Project Manager of Special Projects assigned by Corporate Director of Engineering as needed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Designs and documents control systems for Molding Machines interfacing with Blenders, Conveyors, Stackers, and Lining Machines Assist the Manufacturing Plants with troubleshooting and improving control issues Assist Project Managers with new RTPM interfacing by documenting requirements for Lining, Molding, Stacking and Printing Machines Document Controls Block Diagrams, PLC Controls Programs, Electrical Schematics, Process Flow Diagrams Designs and oversee builds for new interfacing controls to machines and equipment Designs and oversee implementation of OPC UA software for key technologies, identity tags, trend charts and dashboards for use by Production Process Techs, Maintenance and Engineering Communicate technical requirements for Process Monitoring with equipment suppliers OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Train, coach, and mentor associates in Equipment interfacing, Controls Troubleshooting, and Process Monitoring Train maintenance employees on Power Monitoring data collection Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time. Responsible for following all Food Safety related policies and procedures Responsible for following all Safety Rules, policies, procedures and work instructions. Requirements EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Industrial) EXPERIENCE: 5+ years Injection Molding Machine Experience 3+ years of PLC programming in a manufacturing environment. 3+ years of Troubleshooting Industrial Controls 2+ years with OPC UA or equivalent Data Communications Protocols in Manufacturing Industry Working Understanding of Plant support equipment such as Chillers, Pumps, Compressors and Power Distribution EQUIPMENT USED: Hand tools, machine tools, lathe, drills, grinders, personal computer, CAD software and equipment. SOFTWARE USED: Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Visio. Programming Software for PLC’S. Autocad for Electrical, as needed CONTACTS: Plant Engineering Managers Plant Managers/Production Managers Internal Customers: Manufacturing, IT/IS, Engineering Equipment and 3rd party Suppliers Interacts with all levels from Executive to Hourly SUPERVISION: Reports to Director of Manufacturing Engineering.
