Kinross Gold Corporation is a major gold producer with operating mines in North & South America and West Africa, and a number of significant project and exploration sites worldwide. The corporation’s head office is located in downtown Toronto and provides support to all sites. Corporate support functions include Technical Services, Finance, Procurement, Health & Safety, Human Resources, IT and Investor Relations and Environmental & Permitting.
JOB DESCRIPTION
In March 2022 Kinross acquired Great Bear Resources and its flagship Great Bear project (GBR), located near Red Lake, Ontario. The Great Bear property is a greenfield, large-scale deposit with the potential for significant open pit and underground operations. At the start of 2025, the project is moving into the detailed engineering and major equipment procurement phase. The Preliminary Economic Assessment released in September 2024 indicated a total initial project capital of $1.4B.
The Senior Cost Estimator will be responsible for all aspects of estimating activities for GBR, including leading the development and compilation of an updated Capital Cost estimate according to industry standard practices. The incumbent will report to the Cost Control and Contract Administration Manager and will work closely with the GBR team and GBR engineering consultants. This role can be based in Toronto or remote with occasional travel to Toronto and is initially a one-year contract. There may be a need for an ongoing cost estimating role during the future Construction Phase, and if so, the role would be on rotation to the project site in Red Lake, Ontario.
