JOB DESCRIPTION:

• This candidate would not only be working with a data focused team but also has traditional application development.
• Day to day would be developing ETL jobs to production defect resolution to developing data validation utility type of jobs in the traditional Java or Python side of things.
• Participating in User acceptance testing and addressing any routine maintenance things in terms of working with external teams and our team to do upgrades for versions of tools we use or retiring tools.
• One of the big projects we have is moving data from a couple of source systems into a data lake and into Snowflake which is where Informatica comes in. Also, PySpark side of things, traditional data engineering aspects and analytics within Snowflake.
• Top skills would be Python, Java, Informatica, REST and API Integrations with vendor systems.
• Java experience is needed as we have applications written in Java. We expect this person to accept as much work we can throw at him. The combination of Python and Java is preferable.
• Someone who is a rockstar Python person who can pick up Java quickly can be considered. But the preference is having someone with both Python and Java.
• Python vs Java: The majority of things would be on Java but the majority of work within the data warehousing would be on Python rather than Java.
• An ideal profile would be of someone who started as a Java Developer and later moved into data warehouse space using Python, ETL, Snowflake etc. That way we can have someone with both application development and data engineering mindset.
• Risk and Compliance background would be a plus. Financial experience is not mandatory.
• A lot of this stuff is built on AWS. So, AWS is nice to have.
• Python is an absolute must have. Java would be a big bonus. People with Java and Python would be given preference first.
• Database: SQL would be good. NoSQL concepts would be a plus. If the candidate doesn’t have NoSQL, that’s fine. Experience with Snowflake is a plus.

  Pay: $104,950.01 - $126,391.41 per year
