As the Senior Director of the Surgical & Vision Care Field MSL Team, APAC: Field Medical Affairs’ primary role is the impactful leadership and management of the APAC Field Medical Affairs (MSL) team, liaising with APAC LT and managing country medical responsibilities, while providing strategic direction to Region Heads for GMA. Major Accountabilities Leadership and Management: Responsible for recruiting, on-boarding, coordinating the training of the APAC MSLs, Senior Managers. Responsible for all aspects of the Performance Management Process, for the APAC MSL team members. The Senior Director ensures the Manager(s) and MSL team are aligned and collaborating with all key Alcon functions to optimize the level of support and alignment. Communicates routinely with peer leadership in key APAC medical/cross functional and leadership teams (e.g. HEOR, Therapeutic Area Leads, Franchise, Marketing, Medical Information, Regulatory Affairs, etc.) to ensure proper communication, alignment of strategies and execution of key initiatives and therapeutic area medical affairs plans. Strategic Planning and Project/KOL Management: Collaborates with and reports to the Head, VP, Global Field Medical Affairs and the Therapeutic Area Leads in the development of strategy, and tactical objectives of all therapeutic areas within medical affairs, with additional and specific emphasis to the APAC MSL organization. The APAC RH is responsible for the project management /leadership of the APAC MSL organization, to include the management of KOL/territory planning, IITs, Insights Generation, congresses and reporting Serves as the interface between the APAC MSL team and the Global Head of Field Medical Affairs, GMA pillars, Franchise organization, Commercial, R&D and other colleagues. This individual operates with an enterprise mindset Serves as the external scientific KOL management partner and maintains key external scientific relationships, as well as deep scientific understanding of the portfolio Budget Management: Collaborates with finance colleagues, the Global Head Field Medical Affairs and other Medical Colleagues, in the strategic planning and execution process for Medical Affairs, to define and appropriately manage the annual budget for APAC and overall remain accountable to the Global MSL team. Effectively manages the APAC MSL budget, including Travel and Expenses, reviews and approves monthly expense reports, as applicable and appropriate. Location Position can be based in Singapore Head Office or Bengaluru Domestic/International travel required 65-75% What You'll Bring to Alcon: Education Medical Doctor (MD) required Specialization in Ophthalmology strongly preferred Experience 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in Medical Affairs or related functions Prior senior leadership or management experience demonstrated team oversight Experience operating in a matrixed, global organization Strong background in ophthalmology and/or medical devices (highly preferred) Experience supporting or partnering with research and scientific initiatives, including clinical or translational work Exposure to or leadership of Key Opinion Leader (KOL) engagement strategies and external scientific collaboration Medical Affairs Capabilities Proven experience in Medical Science Liaison (MSL) leadership or management preferred Ability to translate scientific data into impactful medical strategies and insights Track record of driving evidence generation, publication planning, and scientific exchange Leadership & Impact Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams across regions Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior stakeholders Experience building and scaling high-performing Medical Affairs teams Strong communication skills bridging science, research, and commercial strategy Experience in APAC, ideally regulatory and ophthalmology exposure Alcon Careers See your impact at alcon.com.careers ATTENTION: Current Alcon Employee/Contingent Worker If you are currently an active employee/contingent worker at Alcon, please click the appropriate link below to apply on the Internal Career site.
