Description:
The Senior Director of People & Culture provides leadership of staff human resources and volunteer functions by formulating, communicating, and implementing staff and volunteer-focused strategies, plans, processes, and tools; supporting leadership in the development of teams through recommendations on and support for coaching and performance management; and leading human resources compliance. This position acts as a consultant for leaders at SPFC in leveraging values-based leadership strategies in addressing both employment and volunteer relations matters.

HUMAN RESOURCES COMPLIANCE & ADMINISTRATION

  • Maintain responsibility for SPFC’s compliance with federal and state regulations pertaining to all personnel matters (ADA, FMLA, Wage and Hour, benefits, etc.)
  • Facilitate process for handling employment legal matters, and coordinate with outside counsel as appropriate, on issues such as employee separation, FMLA, Wage and Hours, ADA, etc.
  • Oversee the annual employee performance appraisal process to identify strengths and developmental needs that feed into individual and overall organizational strategies, goals, mission and vision
  • Lead recruitment functions, including supporting job description creation, job positing and candidate screening; support hiring managers in making selections for best-fit employees
  • Develop and coordinate staff onboarding and exit processes
  • Enhance the new hire experience by informing best practices in onboarding, supporting initial training and gathering feedback from new employees
  • Develop, administer, and communicate HR policies, procedures, and directives including oversight of Employee Handbook; recommend revisions to policies as needed
  • Work with executive leadership to establish competitive and budget-oriented benefits offerings and compensation practices
  • Establish and manage human resources and volunteer program budgets (including budget for employee training and professional development)

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong relationship-building skills with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Capability to prioritize inter- and cross-departmental collaboration
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related software
  • Capability to use a broad range of technology
  • Commitment to and modeling of St. Petersburg Free Clinic mission and values

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university in Human Resources or related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of six years of direct human resources experience
  • Paylocity experience preferred
  • Human Resources experience in nonprofit organizations preferred
  • Experience working with volunteers preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
