Description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with a strong background in embedded systems and high-voltage, high-current design. This is a high-priority onsite role (5 days/week in Palo Alto, CA) with clear growth potential into a leadership position, eventually stepping in to head the embedded systems group.
This is a unique opportunity to join a supportive, growth-oriented team developing innovative aesthetic medical laser systems.

KEY TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE

  • Power switching & motor control (IGBT, MOSFETs, switching power supplies)
  • Pyroelectric detectors & sensor interfacing
  • Analog and mixed-signal circuit design (constant current sources, op amps, ADCs, DACs)
  • Serial communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART)
  • Transformers, magnetic circuits, motor control, and power supply design
  • Robotics, mechatronics, and motion control systems

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BSEE degree required
  • 5+ years of hands-on electrical engineering experience
  • Experience with embedded systems development (ARM)
  • Exposure to voltages up to 1000V, currents up to 400 Amps, and up to 4 KW of power
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Prior leadership or management experience a plus (not required)
  • Medical device industry experience highly preferred
Responsibilities
  • Lead electronic design, including simulation and testing
  • Select and evaluate components with attention to cost, availability, and obsolescence
  • Create PCB designs using Altium Designer
  • Develop embedded controllers (ARM-based)
  • Design wiring harnesses and cables
  • Conduct hardware/software/system compliance testing
  • Support prototype builds and SMD rework
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams
