Description

SUMMARY :

In this role, you will lead the electrical hardware design of complex automation machinery from concept to completion. You’ll work closely with mechanical designers, controls engineers, and production teams to develop high-quality, standards-compliant electrical systems that meet customer specifications and industry regulations.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in electrical hardware design for industrial automation or machinery.
  • Proficient in EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards (CSA, UL, NFPA 79, IEC).
  • Experience with machine safety design, including safety relays, light curtains, interlocks, and e-stops.
  • Familiarity with PLC and motion control systems from Rockwell, Siemens, or similar vendors.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation abilities.
  • Experience in food, pharma, or medical machinery applications.
  • Familiarity with robotic integration and servo motion systems.
  • Knowledge of panel building, wiring practices, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical hardware systems for automated packaging machinery.
  • Create detailed electrical schematics, panel layouts, BOMs, and wiring diagrams using EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Select appropriate components including PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, power supplies, safety devices, and field sensors.
  • Ensure designs meet applicable codes and standards (e.g., CSA, UL, NFPA, IEC).
  • Collaborate with mechanical and controls engineers to ensure seamless integration across systems.
  • Support assembly and commissioning by addressing wiring and design issues on the shop floor.
  • Perform risk assessments and contribute to functional safety designs.
  • Maintain and update project documentation throughout the lifecycle.
  • Mentor junior designers and provide peer reviews for accuracy and compliance.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes, templates, and standards.
