Our vehicle system electronics are the lifeline for power distribution and control functions on our vehicle. Innovation around our Vehicle System Electronics is key to increasing power efficiency and features while reducing mass and cost. Your electronics are the lifeblood of the vehicle. Rivian is continuing to vertically integrate major vehicle systems and components and developing vehicles that support a wide range of outdoor as well as commercial needs.
Rivian is seeking a world-class leader to serve in the newly created position of Senior Manager, Vehicle Systems Electronics Design, who will grow and mentor a team of engineers to support the design and delivery of innovative power distribution and motion control electronics for consumer and commercial spaces as well as drive new technologies into all of Rivian’s vehicle portfolio.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the design and development of complex electronics, including schematic capture, component selection, and PCB layout guidance
  • Perform signal and power integrity analysis to ensure the scalability of products
  • Architect high speed communication networks such as PCIe, MIPI CSI, and Gigabit ethernet
  • Define test requirements and work with test automation/validation teams to implement tests
  • Collaborate with thermal, mechanical, manufacturing, and software teams to optimize the product for cost and reliability
  • Support the full product lifecycle from architecture definition through product ramp and sustainment
  • Work with cross fuctional teams to perform indepth root cause analyses of system failures (during development and after product deployment)
  • Develop and implement effective corrective actions to resolve design flaws, manufacturing defects, or component-related issues
  • Ensure compliance with automotive industry standards, such as ISO 26262, and relevant EMC/EMI regulations.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and provide technical leadership on complex projects

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related fields) with 6+ years experience or Master’s degree with 2+ years experience
  • Strong EE fundamentals including power, high speed, computer architecture, analog, and mixed signal design
  • Solid understanding of PCB design including electrical performance, reliability, and manufacturabilility
  • Experience running signal integrity and power integrity tools such as Ansys SIwave or Cadence Sigrity
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and design layout tools such as Altium or Cadence Orcad
  • Deep understanding of product development and managing technical risk
  • Excellent communication skills to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Lab proficiency – hands-on knowledge of equipment and best practices
  • Familiarity with RTOS and Linux systems
  • An ability to zoom out on technical problems and create plans to solve them
