Description Hours: 40 hours plus per week, 8:00am to 5:00 pm with a one hour lunch break, flexible hours outside the aforementioned hours will be required to successfully perform job. Summary: Working under the guidance of an engineering manager, staff engineer or senior level engineer, this individual will be responsible for supporting product development programs for aerospace environmental control system applications. Responsibility will include component and / or system design development, verification, validation, transition to production and continued sustaining support as required. Travel: Periodic travel required to support customer onsite meetings and reviews, both domestic and international. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following; others may be assigned: · Performs project assignments under minimum supervision of engineering manager, staff engineer or senior engineer. · Assesses customer requirements and designs projects to meet these requirements. · Analyzes problems or difficulties and recommends action to be taken. · Responsible for completion and accuracy of engineering documentation. · Prepares and presents design data in support of internal and Customer design reviews. · Support DFX (Design to Cost, Manufacturability, Reliability, etc.) efforts. · Prepares and releases Development and Qualification Test Plans, Procedures and Test Reports. · Review and revise test proposals and procedures. · Create medium complexity drawings, including assembly drawings. · Understands layout needs associated with analog designs including high current/voltage considerations. · Approve Technical Data. · Can be assigned as the engineering member for IPT for large projects. · Understand how the component interfaces with the System. · Solid knowledge of drawings conception. · Solid knowledge of test proposals/ procedure. · Release complex and assembly level drawings. · Approve Baseline and Minor Drawing changes. · Has good knowledge of aviation standards. · Monitor and control project cost and schedule and effectively communication project status to stakeholders. · Supports existing products. · Makes recommendations for design, process or cost reduction improvements including substantiating tests and analysis. · Capable of mentoring simple projects to designers/engineers and coordinating the completion of their tasks. · Provides technical assistance to Business Development, Manufacturing and Quality organizations. · Maintains project files, ensures proper documentation per Company guidelines · Provides leadership to support personnel as required. · Assists in planning and coordination with support groups. · May directly supervise departmental employee (e.g. lab technicians) · Reviews project status, makes recommendations where necessary. · Assists Business Development Department in proposal preparation and customer presentations; interacts with customers and suppliers on technical and program matters. · Communicates status accurately and regularly to Management, recommending solutions for problems encountered. · Performs miscellaneous duties as needed within Engineering Department. Requirements Education and/or Experience: B.S. Degree in Engineering. 4 – 7 years experience in development of aircraft environmental control system components and systems. Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficient in the use of MS Office software, knowledge and experience with MS Project a plus. Working knowledge of CAD design and analysis tools. For Software Engineers, experience with microcontroller / microprocessor based Embedded systems, programming in C and C++. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk, hear and see. Repetitive movement is also required. The employee is required to sit, walk, stoop, bend and move about in an office area/shop area. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift, move, push, and/or carry up to 50lbs, and rarely lift, move, push, and/or carry up to 100lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust and focus Employee may be subject to random drug and alcohol testing under FAA regulations.
