REQUIREMENTS

  • We require a minimum of BS in chemical, materials, ceramic, electrical, statistics, industrial, analytics or mechanical engineering (MS preferred)
  • 3+ years experience in engineering/manufacturing with a track record of successfully solving process problems based on fundamental understanding
  • Deep knowledge of Process excellence
  • Experience completing projects in a manufacturing organization
  • Excellent Analytical Skills - Decision-making based on data
  • Must be available for significant travel, primarily domestic, to multiple locations to support business needs
Responsibilities

POSITION PURPOSE

In this role, you will use your creativity, good judgment and flexibility to reduce defects by eliminating root causes. You will work with suppliers to improve performance and ensure that the measurement/inspection system meets the customer’s needs. You will also have the opportunity to improve processes and solve problems based on fundamental understanding gained through the use of the scientific method by applying DMAIC and advanced statistical tools. Improving manufacturing cost, quality, uptime, yields, cycle time, and safety are other areas you can strive to positively effect by evaluating new raw materials, new equipment, or new process parameters. You are also responsible for documenting SOP, SOS, experiment planning, and process changes and your projects could support any Corning division or research and development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • We own the design and development of new processes or improvement to existing processes at Corning facilities worldwide
  • You will solve problems and improve processes based on fundamental understanding and structured problem solving methods such as KT, Designed Experimentation, or Six Sigma.
  • You will also lead the implementation of Process Control and Process Discipline systems into manufacturing operations as well as use your analytical skills to analyze process data using statistical tools (e.g. pareto, regression, time charting, analysis of variance, gauge R&R, etc.).
  • Other responsibilities include measuring and communicating performance against established objectives, reviewing and interpreting data to make recommendations on immediate actions, long term corrective actions, follow-up experiments, etc., and documenting processes and mentoring operators and peers on defined processes
