SENIOR ENTERPRISE ARCHITECT

Required Location: Hybrid/ Hybrid Toronto, ON 3 days a week
* We need: A senior Enterprise Architect with extensive experience working with any aspect of Capital Markets (Trading, Front, Middle or Back office) and heavy Data experience. This is a Replacement role to drive a major data transformation program at RBC Capital Markets with a Core Goal: Move RBC towards standardized schemas from front to back, creating a more consistent and portable data model for data movement across the bank as well as experience with data governance, cloud hosting implications (e.g., Data Bricks, Azure), and data security *

III. REQUIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Data Expertise:
  • Deep understanding of data modeling, architecture, and schema design.
  • Knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and data enrichment.
  • Understanding of data governance, cloud hosting implications (e.g., Data Bricks, Azure), and data security.
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare summary analysis.
  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Familiarity with different database types and their implications.
  • Experience working in technology for a considerable period.
  • Architectural & Strategic Thinking:
  • Ability to define and drive target state architecture.
  • Problem-solving approach to data activities.
  • Communication & Influence:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to influence and achieve consensus across diverse stakeholders (SMEs to senior leadership).
  • Ability to tailor communication to different audiences.
  • Functional Acumen:
  • 70% functional, 30% technical focus.
  • Broad, high-level understanding of capital markets business functions (e.g., front office, sales, trading, research, risk, operations, settlements, surveillance, compliance). Does not require deep expertise, but enough familiarity from past work or research.

Responsibilities

I. ROLE OVERVIEW & OBJECTIVES:

  • Purpose: Replacement role to drive a major data transformation program at RBC Capital Markets.
  • Core Goal: Move RBC towards standardized schemas from front to back, creating a more consistent and portable data model for data movement across the bank.

II. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES:

  • Understand and define data modeling and architecture.
  • Develop a vision for data consistency and portability.
  • Gather and understand stakeholder needs, document them, and present back a combination of views to gain consensus for delivery.
  • Provide direction to teams during implementation and ensure delivery against transformation targets and timelines.
  • Proactively escalate issues and present mitigation alternatives.
  • Act as a good listener, discerning what questions need to be answered and understanding solution architects’ needs.
  • Ensure platform components meet the needs of solution architects across the organization.
