POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Financial Analyst position is responsible for reviewing client data, with the ability to correct and adjust the ledger system to increase accuracy. The Financial Analyst is fully literate in the computer/office automation programs used in-house by the fiscal department. The Financial Analyst has an advanced understanding of reports and can expertly coordinate results with program staff and senior management.

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/LANGUAGE PREFERENCE:

  • Two or more years of experience is required. Ability to multi-task and attention to detail is a must.

COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel.

Responsibilities

PURPOSE:

The Jewish Board provides clinical, supportive, and residential services throughout NYC to more than 35,000 clients annually. With a budget of over $220 million, the Jewish Board is one of the largest and most comprehensive human services agencies in New York State. Services include mental health treatment, a continuum of supportive housing for mentally ill adults and children, domestic violence shelters, foster care prevention, residential care for the developmentally disabled, day treatment programs, care coordination, mobile crisis teams, and other related programs serving a broad range of New Yorkers. All programs share goals of supporting Jewish Board clients to live full, meaningful, and healthy with as much independence as possible.

KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Financial Analyst can create monthly client statements, aggregating data from several databases into one form to be mailed to clients.
  • Financial Analyst will follow-up with program staff and senior management daily to improve client statements, often making quick decisions on best method to assist client.
  • Review client ledgers at an expert level with the ability to correct via entries into the General Ledger and client sub-ledgers
  • Financial Analyst downloads daily lockbox data and can review for errors. Adjust for any missing data via knowledge of current clients.
  • Financial Analyst is able to use database software (SQL) to generate reports and has the ability to add data to the database.
  • Creates templates for monthly client bank transfers, updating for new benefit amounts. Prepares downloads of the activity on a monthly basis.
  • Financial Analyst will download data from the PTAR application to record monthly receivable of transportation reimbursement.
  • Assists Manager with monthly invoice and cash preparation for the statements and close.
  • Is responsible for meeting deadlines regarding monthly, quarterly and annual closings
  • Assist Treasury unit with projects as required.
  • Supervision of one staff person.
