Description Position Title: Fire Alarm and Security Technician Reports To: Operations Mgr. Status: Hourly Job Type: Full Time. Supervises: N/A Location: Field /General Office Location/Building The Fire Alarm and Security Technician position is responsible for safely installing, programming, and maintaining card access, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and fire alarm systems equipment & wiring. This position will install individual components and various wiring throughout sites, following necessary electrical codes & procedures, and according to instructions provided. This position will also test various systems & components, repairing as necessary according to system specifications. Responsibilities: · Install and or service low voltage systems such as access control, video, intrusion alarm, fire alarm and intercoms. · Inspect Fire alarm systems per NFPA 72 requirements. · Install cables through access holes, roof spaces, and cavity walls to reach fixture outlets; position and terminate cables, wires, and strapping. Drill holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings, and floors. Ensure work is completed in accordance with relevant electrical codes · Demonstrate systems for customers, and explain details such as the causes and consequences of false alarms · Perform installation or service in accordance with work orders, building plans, and manufacture installation manuals. Determine material requirements and installation procedures · Test backup batteries, keypad programming, sirens, and all security features to ensure proper functioning or to diagnose malfunctions · Examine systems to locate problems such as loose connections or faulty equipment. · Maintain & protect company vehicle, tools, hardware, and equipment to be installed on projects Competencies: · Excellent technical skills (installation, repair, and troubleshooting) · Knowledge of current electrical/system codes & regulations · Strong attention to safety and detail Knowledge, Skill & Other Requirements: · Must pass background check and have clean driving record · Knowledge of basic electricity theory Benefits: Competitive salary Health, dental, and vision insurance Retirement savings plan Paid time off and holidays Ongoing training and development opportunities
Responsibilities
