This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing collections and recovery operations for commercial, small business, and equipment finance portfolios. The Sr. Manager will drive operational excellence, manage high-performing teams, and implement strategies that balance strong recovery results with an outstanding customer experience. The position involves workforce management, data-driven decision-making, process optimization, and regulatory compliance. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to address complex cases, enhance efficiency through technology and analytics, and ensure adherence to risk and compliance standards. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on both operational performance and customer financial wellness. \n Accountabilities: Develop and execute strategic plans to improve portfolio performance, minimize credit losses, and ensure operational stability. Lead, coach, and develop in-house collections teams and outsourced agency partners, fostering accountability and continuous improvement. Oversee workforce management including scheduling, forecasting, and capacity planning to align staffing with recovery goals. Optimize workflows, policies, and quality controls using analytics, automation, and segmentation strategies. Ensure all collections activities comply with federal, state, local regulations, and internal risk standards. Monitor portfolio metrics such as roll rates, liquidation results, and agency performance, and implement action plans as needed. Partner with cross-functional teams including Operations, Credit Risk, Compliance, and Legal to manage complex cases and support operational initiatives. Reinforce customer-centric collections practices that maintain dignity, support financial wellness, and protect organizational reputation. Requirements: Extensive experience in collections and recovery management within commercial, small business, and/or equipment finance lending. Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, managing both direct and outsourced staff effectively. Strong knowledge of collections strategies, loss mitigation, recovery workflows, and regulatory compliance requirements. Workforce management expertise including forecasting, scheduling, capacity planning, and real-time monitoring. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint) for data analysis, reporting, and modeling. Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights. Experience with collections systems, CRM platforms, and performance management tools. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills. Customer-first mindset grounded in ethics, empathy, and mission alignment. Based in, or willing to relocate to, Commerce, CA. Optional but preferred: experience with automation, digital contact strategies, AI-enabled collections tools, or industry certifications such as CCP or CCE.
